In Accord
Our November meeting was wonderfully uplifting as we were entertained by In Accord, an a Capella choir. They started off the evening with some lively familiar numbers like Raindrops Keep Falling and Crazy Little Thing Called Love. It was fascinating to listen to the 13 different voices all woven together and there was a very helpful break in the singing while they broke down the separate voices and built them one by one to help us understand how their harmonious sound was achieved. They then continued to demonstrate what a variety of songs could be adapted for a Capella singing with an 18th century song All Around My Hat followed by a catchy version of Into Something Good.
A second pause allowed for a bit of audience participation as we made a round out of rhythmic actions, clapping and stamping. Next, while the energy was high, a witty rendition of Botox and Nose Drops got us all laughing. I Dreamed a Dream gave us a chance to tune back into their harmonies before we were put to work singing in four parts and making a pretty good attempt at Where Is Love from Oliver. A lovely rendition of Who Will Buy followed by a foot tapping version of She Loves You rounded off a wonderful evening.
